Many French soldiers in the New World took Menominee women as their wives or lovers. My father’s mother, Eva Brousseau, was part-Menominee, a woodland people who had been settled in what is now Wisconsin for thousands of years. The Theroux ancestors had lived in rural Quebec from about 1690, ten generations, the eleventh having migrated to Stoneham, up the road from Medford, where my father was born. My father noted in his diary, “Anne had another boy at 7:25.” My father was a shipping clerk in a Boston leather firm, my mother a college-trained teacher, though it would be 20 years before she returned to teaching.

It was the reason for Medford rum and Medford shipbuilding in the Triangular Trade the river linked Medford to Africa and the Caribbean-Medford circulating mystically in the world. The river meant everything to me: it flowed through our town, and in reed-fringed oxbows and muddy marshes that no longer exist, to Boston Harbor and the dark Atlantic. He is one of the best examples of living the American dream – sharing the idea that one can gain financial independence, and reach a prosperous life through hard work.I was born, the third of seven children, in Medford, Massachusetts, so near to Boston that even as a small boy kicking along side streets to the Washington School, I could see the pencil stub of the Custom House Tower from the banks of the Mystic River. This book reveals Franklin’s youth, his ideas, and his days of adversity and prosperity. “The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin” is written by one of the founding fathers of the United States. Example #5: The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin by Benjamin Franklin Although Bernhard is happy with the lifestyle and prestige of being an author, his blasé attitude and scathing wit make this recollection more charmingly dissident and hilarious. Rather, he has viewed his life as a farcical theatrical drama unfolding around him.

Reliving the success of his literary career through the lens of the many prizes he has received, Thomas Bernhard presents a sarcastic commentary in his autobiography, “My Prizes.” Bernhard, in fact, has taken a few things too seriously. He has done the same with his autobiography, where readers are eager to move through fanciful stories about train rides, circus bears, and secrets to a happy marriage all of which give readers glimpses of the real man. Like postmodern writers, such as Jorge Luis Borges, and Italo Calvino, the stories of Tuten skip between truth and imagination, time and place, without warning. In his autobiography, “Self Portraits: Fictions,” Frederic Tuten has combined the fringes of romantic life with reality.
